In the begining of 2021,Gyro finder got an requirement for continuous gyro, which will work on vertical wells. And most gyro in the market only can continuous work at INC>6 deg, in this case, the gyro have to be used as single shot that will waste a lot of time.


Gyrofinder provided a continuous gyro in March and this gyro can run fast even when the wells are vertical INC<5 deg. Gyrofinder can update 3 readings per second and record data in every centimeter, this accuracy is very important in cluster wells and exploration data in mining.

Compared with other gyro tools, gyrofinder have the following advantages:

1、North seeking, no need align at surface.

2、 Run continuous at any inclination.

3、Fast Run 150m/min.

4、FOG sensor, more reliable and accurate


In a recent work, Gyrofinder took 40 minutes in a 585 meters well and got 2 complete RUNIN and RUNOUT data, and competitor took 86 mins for one run only as it have to run as single shot for vertical well. Because the winch from customer only can work as speed 50m/min, and gyrofinder can run as max 150m/min, it can save more time if have faster winch available.

The 2 Gyrofinder runs can match with client data, and the error between RUNIN and RUNOUT is about 0.5 meter, accuracy is 0.1%, which is the equivalent of only 1m of uncertainty in a 1000m hole.

The WinGyro 3 axis solid-state sensors are rugged, ensuring accuracy and reliability in high shock, high vibration and high temperature environments. the tool’s accuracy is unmatched and does not require regular calibrations . Fog-Gyro


The GyroFinder uses the latest fibre optic gyroscope (FOG) senses to measure the earth’s rotation rate to gyrocompass, which combined with angular data from accelerometers can provide highly accurate wellbore directional surveys in a range of operating conditions.


Most conventional systems are sensitive mechanical devices that can be compromised by shock and vibration, which means they must be recalibrated after every single run. The GyroFinder features a unique sensor that incorporates Fiber-Optic gyro technology. A fibre optic gyroscope (FOG) senses changes in orientation using the Sagnac effect its principle of operation is instead based on the interference of light which has passed through a coil of optical fibre , thus performing the function of a mechanical gyroscope.

Not only can FOG technology withstand challenging downhole conditions, including severe shock and vibration, it means the sensor can be rerun without recalibrating the tool.


The GyroFinder is also one of the smallest diameter tools available on the market, enabling it to be supplied in a high pressure 1.89” thermal shield configuration, enabling it to be used in any wellbore survey application and at any temperature, and making it the most flexible tool on the market today.
